Project Details

Witech was hired by Cooper Construction company to perform the mass earthwork for a new cross-dock freight terminal for XPO Logistics. This project required the removal of over 18’ of bedrock to get to design subgrade elevations.

In total, 250,000 CY of rock was required to be drilled, blasted, and removed. Witech crushed the blasted rock onsite, utilizing it as structural fill, foundation backfill, and aggregate under the pavement. The project required the construction of 3 large basins to control the 70 acres of stormwater runoff. These basins were proposed in the low lying areas of the existing site. Construction of these basins was difficult because of the unsuitable, wet, silty sandy clay that was required to be harvested in order to construct each basin.

Witech crews developed a plan before ever moving an ounce of dirt and executed this project safely, on time and on budget.
