Stewart Farms Phase 2

Project Details

Witech Excavating is partnering with FCL Builders, LLC and Trammell Crow Company on Stewart Farms Phase 2, a 788,000-square-foot build-to-suit industrial development in Plainfield, Illinois. Witech’s scope includes mass excavation, subgrade preparation, aggregate placement, and foundation excavation and backfill. Major earthwork quantities include approximately 84,000 CY of topsoil excavation, 148,000 CY of site cut-to-fill, 65,000 CY of borrow-to-fill, 15,000 CY of topsoil respread, 174,000 SY of fine grading, and 38,000 tons of aggregate placement.

With mass earthwork currently underway, the project team is focused on maintaining an aggressive schedule while minimizing the need for soil remediation. Witech has utilized its experience on nearby projects and familiarity with local soil conditions to help develop pre-construction remediation budgets and identify value-engineering opportunities that keep the project moving efficiently and within budget. The site layout has also presented logistical challenges, requiring detailed coordination and communication between Witech, FCL Builders, Trammell Crow Company, and the other project partners throughout construction. Operations Manager Greg Slivka and Superintendent Josh Uhrich are leading Witech’s efforts in the field, helping ensure operations remain coordinated, productive, and aligned with project milestones.
