A 50-acre parking lot expansion in Matteson, IL, required site prep for Gallagher Asphalt Corp. to add a new lot and detention basin for a car auction facility. On this commercial job, crews performed 155,000 CY of earthwork and 200,000 SY of fine grading to get to the required sub-grade dirt.
In addition to working around existing buildings and an active open lot that opened to the main road, crews dealt with drastic changes in the existing topography. Using Topcon GPS, they and engineer Kimley Horn reshaped the rolling field into a large flat auto lot.
They utilized Quadtracs pulling scraper pans along with D8s pulling scraper pans on this project.
Witech has a great and experienced excavation team. Their team brought productive ideas and a can-do approach to our Matteson Auto Auction project. They beat their project schedule which allowed us to complete all paving before winter conditions set in. Overall great job and looking forward to the next project with Witech.
