Project Details

Witech partnered with RYAN Companies on a Confidential Data Center Project located in Indiana, a two-year effort focused on mass earthwork and site preparation for four large data center buildings and a supporting water treatment area.

Witech’s scope included mass grading, subgrading, topsoil management, foundation excavation/backfill, and the furnishing and placement of over 200,000 tons of stone across multiple areas including slabs, pavements, curbs, sidewalks, and generator yards. Specialized methods such as hydrovac excavation and conveyor belt stone placement were utilized to safely work around energized electrical systems and tight generator yard spaces.

The project involved moving over 250,000 cubic yards of material and coordinating closely with multiple trades to maintain a safe and efficient workflow. Despite the complexity and tight sequencing, the project was completed on schedule with strong performance across all phases.

Witech will return in March 2026 to restore temporary laydown yards back into farm fields or designated tree preserves.

Scoped Performance
Earthwork & Grading
Performed topsoil stripping, mass grading, and topsoil respread across the entire site.
Over 250,000 cubic yards of material were moved to establish design grades for four data center buildings and a water treatment facility.
Installed and maintained temporary laydown yards and haul roads to support continuous trade access throughout construction.

Subgrade & Stone Placement
Completed fine grading and subgrade preparation for all structures and pavement areas.
Furnished and placed more than 200,000 tons of stone across:

Building slabs on grade
Heavy and light-duty concrete and asphalt pavements
Curbs and sidewalks
Generator yards and tank foundations
Employed conveyor belting and concrete buggies for stone placement in confined generator yard areas where conventional equipment could not access.

Foundation Excavation & Backfill
Excavated and backfilled over 1,000 interior and exterior foundations, including building, generator pad, and water tank foundations.
Utilized hydrovac excavation to safely expose and work around live electrical lines during generator yard activities.

Safety & Coordination
Maintained a zero-incident safety record while working in congested and active trade zones.
Coordinated closely with mechanical, electrical, and utility contractors to sequence activities efficiently — ensuring haul roads and work zones remained operational throughout construction.

Finalization & Restoration
Upon completion of major construction, Witech will return in March 2026 to remove temporary laydown yards and restore those areas back to agricultural use or designated tree preserves, as required by the owner.

Testimonial

Ryan Companies has a motto of “Building Lasting Relationships”. This applies to our
clients, subcontractors vendors and all companies that we work with on a daily basis. In
my 30+ years of being in the commercial contracting business, I’ve had the pleasure of
working with many good subcontractors, but Witech Company is a great subcontractor.

Over the past several years, we’ve partnered with Witech on several projects. Their
expertise in preplanning and insight into site management have greatly contributed to the
economical execution and success of our projects. Once on site, their professionalism,
cooperation, commitment to safety and production sets the standard for expectations of
our subcontractors.

From the inception of each project, Witech has brought an energy, attention to detail and
genuine concern for the project. When problems are encountered, Witech has brought
practical and fair solutions to the table. It’s clear that Witech values Building
Relationships every bit as much as we do at Ryan.
