Project Details

Witech was selected in September 2025 to perform comprehensive site development services for the Clarius industrial facility located on a 75-acre site in University Park, Illinois. Partnering with Meridian Design Build, our team was tasked with executing large-scale mass grading operations to prepare the site for building construction and infrastructure installation while maintaining strict production timelines and soil performance requirements.

The primary objective of this project was to move significant volumes of material efficiently while avoiding the need for lime stabilization to dry unsuitable soils. Through strategic planning, disciplined field operations, and strong coordination with the general contractor, Witech successfully maintained production rates exceeding 15,000 cubic yards per day, allowing the project to progress without delays and eliminating additional soil treatment costs for the client.

Witech’s responsibilities on this project include full-service earthwork and site preparation activities necessary to establish proper grades and site readiness for industrial development. The scope consists of high-volume excavation, material relocation, grading, and aggregate placement across the entire development footprint.

One of the key challenges on this project was maintaining soil productivity without relying on lime drying, which can add cost, time, and logistical complexity to large-scale grading operations. Witech addressed this challenge through proactive scheduling, efficient material handling, and continuous monitoring of site conditions to maximize production and maintain workable soils.

Our team implemented disciplined haul planning, equipment utilization strategies, and coordinated sequencing to keep operations moving at a consistent pace. By focusing on production efficiency and site management, Witech was able to maintain daily production targets while preserving soil integrity and minimizing additional treatment requirements.
