Witech Excavating partnered with Lennar Homes on the Auburn Chase subdivision in Shorewood, Illinois, delivering full site development across a 95-acre site. Awarded in September 2025, the project involved moving more than 340,000 cubic yards of material, including 125,000 cubic yards of topsoil excavation, 160,000 cubic yards of site cut-to-fill, and 258,000 square yards of fine grading. The team’s primary objective was to complete phase one roads before winter, with the remaining pavement and curbs scheduled for spring completion. One of the key challenges on this job was expanding a new basin into an existing borrow pit while maintaining water management throughout the site. Additionally, a pipeline bisected the project area, requiring Witech to install crane mats to safely move equipment and balance the site effectively. Through careful coordination, precise planning, and strong field leadership from superintendents Kyle Peel and Tegan Kruser, Witech successfully completed mass earthwork operations and enabled Lennar Homes to achieve its goal of paving phase one roads before the end of the season.
