Romeoville Overburden Removal

Project Details

Awarded in January 2025, the Romeoville Overburden Removal project marks a significant partnership between Witech and Heidelberg. Phase 1 was completed during the winter of 2025, where Witech successfully removed 280,000 cubic yards of overburden, demolished existing structures and pipe, and installed new drainage piping beneath a new berm. The project is currently paused and scheduled to resume on January 1, 2026, for Phase 2. This next phase will include the removal of an additional 370,000 cubic yards of overburden, bringing the total volume moved to 650,000 cubic yards upon completion.
